New Year, New Blog

Welcome to 2012!

We just finished a Bible study using Ann Voskamp's book, one thousand gifts, which encourages us to be thankful for the small gifts we sometimes take for granted. (Check out her blog at http://www.aholyexperience.com)

Last night, January 1, I began making a short list of my blessings. I decided that I would post them here, so that I can easily maintain the list and anyone reading it would be able to see it clearly, considering my atrocious handwriting.

Here goes, in no particular order:

1. My husband Larry and son Michael.

2. Good friends.

3. Our home.

4. Our comfy giant chair that is on it's last leg.

5. The scent of freshly baked bread.

6. Our sweet pups, Pete, the Speckle-butted Monster and Sam, the Wonder Lab

7. Bill and Shannon Cox, who lead our church family and teach by being good examples of the way we should all live.

8. Fresh composition books just waiting for me to fill with journaling.

9. Color and the ability to see and process it. How can anyone stand before a beautiful sunset and not know there is God?

10. Even though I am 62, I am agile enough to bend over and pick up things from the ground.

11. My God-given ability to make art.

If I add three blessings a day, I will hit 1,000 quickly. Some days will have more blessings than others, but I will do my best to post every day.

Wishing you and your family a very blessed 2012!
